Rise was the big sister Nanako never had. She was really nice, pretty, and she liked Souji just as much as Nanako did! What more could she ask for in a role model? Because Rise was the only person in Holly Heights that Nanako knew from home (who never left), she felt a special bond form between them (cue social link music) as they spent more time with each other.
She spent her eighth birthday with Rise, who consoled her when she was lonely and upset, and even if it was a "different" Rise, she'll always treasure that memory and look up to her for all the times she's been there for Nanako.
Togami is ridiculously selfish. And mean. And a big jerk. And haughty. And spoiled. Nanako could go on and on about how scary he is... She's sure she'll have a nightmare or two about him soon enough. But she doesn't hold it against him because she hopes, one day, if she's really good, then he'll wake up and decide to be nice.
She knows that Togami is from a messed up place, though she doesn't know all the details. And frankly, she would like to keep it that way. But she does know that people who come from messed up places are messed up... usually. She's sure that's why he's so... Togami. He just needs love, right? Like... Like the Grinch. Too bad she's completely wrong.
Even with her theory, she can't help but want him to like her anyway. She wants to be his friend! But first... she'll have to work up the courage to get through to him (in her mind, at least).
Chiaki is arguably Nanako's best friend. She's not entirely sure what the story is behind her kindergarten-level mind and adult-level body, but she's willing to accept her nonetheless. If she's feeling sad or lonely, she knows that if she talks to Chiaki, she'll forget why she was ever upset in the first place because she's so accepting and warm. She loves her, and she loves to play with her!
Chiaki is one of the sweetest people she knows, and Nanako wants to preserve that. Being her elder and all, she feels responsible for teaching Chiaki as much as she can while also keeping her pureness untainted.
Upon first meeting him, Nanako thought Gau was a stalker. But then she found out that he was her neighbor, and that she was just mistaken. She thinks he's silly and interesting most of the time. All the times he's not silly and interesting, he's really stubborn, and treats her like she's a baby. She knows that Gau has X-Treme maternal instincts, but she'd like him to see that she is completely self-sufficient and doesn't need his help!
Nanako liked it when Gau lived with them. She felt a lot less lonely and a lot more cared about, even if it came at the expense of her maturity. Now that he's in another house, she's happy he's away from Togami (seriously, what a toxic pair), but she misses him a little.
